Building Homes and Hope for A Cleaner Environment
One of the efforts nearest and dearest to our heart is our partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Durham. We sponsored and built one of 30 homes in Hope Crossing, Durham, NC, and worked with Habitat to make it the first “green,” affordable housing community in the state.
Burt's Bees was the sole sponsor for the first house in the development. However, our commitment went beyond a financial one. Our employees acted as "worker bees" on the house, rolling up their sleeves and dedicating over 1600 hours to help with the build.
Then in Spring 2008, along with Habitat and our partner, Kaboom!, we also built a community playground at Hope Crossing. To see the video taken on this amazing day, please see below.
We’re excited to be building our second house this fall, with hopes that one of our very own can move in by the Holidays.
