Around the world, Bees are disappearing and need your help!

Did you know that without pollinators like the bees, the delicious and colourful Strawberry wouldn’t exist? In fact, one third of all the food we eat is thanks to pollinators like the bees, and many more of our favourite fruit and vegetables would simply disappear without them. Many soft fruits will not bear fruit unless insects pollinate them, and the honey bee is the most important of all pollinators. Researchers from the University of California have found that western honey bees are the world’s most important single species of pollinator of natural ecosystems and somewhere between 75%-95% of all flowering plants on earth rely on pollination to survive. Traditional varieties of fruits such as strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, apples, pears, apricots and peaches; all need pollination to bear fruit.,

Burt’s Bees wants to ensure that never happens, and that’s why we are supporting our buzzing friends with our limited edition Strawberry pack. For each pack sold $1 will be donated to local Australian charity partner, The Wheen Bee Foundation.,

Find out which flowers are good for bees!

Flowers such as Chamomile, Corn Cockle , Cornflower, Corn Marigold and Poppy are perfect pollinators, and by planting them you can help save the bees. Chamomile is a good example of simple native flower. Single row petal, in fact very like a strawberry flower, with pale outer petals and bright attractive centre head of yellow of florets, each containing a tiny amount of nectar for the honey bee or insect.

Bees need these type of flowers as a source of protein and carbohydrates; as they need the protein to grow properly. Green fields are “green deserts” for them, and honey bees and all insects need a variety of different foods. Suburban and urban areas can have more variety and give more honey than rural areas.
